Our Story
Our church was planted out of The Cure Church KC in 2009 to the city of Independence, MO and merged with our Lee’s Summit Congregation in 2015. The church was planted with the desire to share the love of God to those who have never experienced the power of Christ in their own lives.
We are a multi-cultural, multi-generational church with people from different walks of life that have been brought together by the love of God.
We are a church full of people who are passionate about worship, reaching hurting and broken people, and making the name of Jesus famous!
Our purpose is to reach, train, equip, and empower and to show the world that Jesus truly is the CURE.
Our Pastors: Louis & Michelle Kelso
Pastor Louis:
God saved my life August 17th 2002 at Praise Chapel KC. He saved me from a life that was headed for destruction. I knew I needed God but ran for years until I realized how much I needed what only God could give me. Forgiveness and Purpose! It was at Praise Chapel/The Cure where I discovered that God had called me to one day pastor a church and I positioned my life to see that vision fulfilled and I am so honored to be able to lead the The Cure Church of Lee’s Summit!
I was born and raised in Kansas City, KS and my greatest accomplishments is being a husband and a father to 3 young men. I’m a die hard Kansas Jayhawk fan! I enjoy going to the movies with my family and cheering on my kids at all their sporting events!
My goal as a pastor is to impact Lee’s Summit with the love of God. There is so much hurt and pain in the world. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from, we all have a sickness that only Jesus can CURE!
Pastor Michelle:
I gave my life to Jesus on May 13, 2001 after having lived a life full of physical and mental abuse, filled with anger and fear, hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, and so much more brokenness and pain. That was the best day of my life, because it’s the day I found LOVE, PEACE, JOY, and HOPE. I found JESUS!
The ONE who was, and is the CURE for all our issues in life. Before meeting Jesus that day in a church service at Praise Chapel KC (now The Cure Church) I had trust issues and no hope, no smile, I was empty and broken, but He loved me just the way I was. So much so that He helped me get my life together, set me free from those things and gave me a beautiful hope and a future in Him (Jeremiah 29:11). I was a young, single depressed mother when I came to Jesus. BUT…. today, I am a blessed woman of God, full of His love, hope, joy and peace, free from the bondages of sin and I love life. I’m a wife to a wonderful man of God and a mother to three amazing sons who love God and get the best of me because of Jesus.
Together, I have the amazing opportunity to pastor The Cure Church Lee’s Summit alongside my husband, and lead our services in worship. I enjoy spending time with my family, going to my sons basketball games, singing unto the Lord, and impacting other ladies lives through my story. I have a passion to bring hope and freedom to hopeless and hurting women’s lives (Isaiah 61:1), just as Jesus has done for mine. I have had the opportunity to share my testimony on TBN and CBN and love that my story, because of Jesus, could bring hope, healing and strength to someone else.
