Inter-racial Church in Jackson County | Full Of It: Lead

< Back to Blog

The Cure Church Lee’s Summit is an Inter-racial Church in Jackson County. We love being a huge melting pot here in Lee’s Summit. It’s so important to us that every person from every culture can find a place to worship Jesus and we hope you choose to worship here.

Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God;  Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Psalm 143:10

In this Psalm we see even King David desired to be led by the Holy Spirit.  Being led by the Holy Spirit is the qualification that makes us children of God.

Listen, you and I don’t know how to be Christians.  We may know technically what the Bible says but we need the power of the Holy Spirit to live it out.

Even in the book of Acts Jesus pretty much told the disciples to do nothing until the power of the Holy Spirit came.  The leading of the Holy Spirit is the best leading of all. It’s not some emotion but divine wisdom. He knows what we are to do and where we are to go.

There is sanctity in being led.  He will not lead us to anything that will corrupt us, defile our character, or diminish our faith. He is holy.

Being led by the Holy Spirit means living a life opposite of what the world tells us.  When the believer submits to the counsel of God it is evidence you are not like anyone else.  Speaking in tongues is evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. But, when we choose to be led by His Spirit it’s proof we want His will over our own.

When we came to God it was to be set free and be changed.  Being guided by the Holy Spirit brings about this change.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Gal 5:18 NKJV

The Galatians wanted to live a Godly life but the people were trying to do this by their own efforts and the law of Moses.  The Holy Spirit gives us the power to change. The Spirit’s ability is much different than the law as the law is based on self-effort.

You can’t separate the fact that there are internal consequences to following the leading of the flesh as opposed to following the Holy Spirit.

Don’t say anything that would hurt another person. Instead, speak only what is good so that you can give help wherever it is needed. That way, what you say will help those who hear you. Don’t give God’s Holy Spirit any reason to be upset with you. He has put his seal on you for the day you will be set free from the world of sin. Gal 4:29-30

When we succumb to the flesh we are literally grieving the Holy Spirit.  He is within us. I wish the Holy Spirit was a flesh and blood person chained to us.  Be even though we can’t physically see Him He is with us and hears every word, knows every thought, and is trying to help us before we do something we shouldn’t.

The Holy Spirit wants to help us with those things we do when no one sees us.  He wants to deliver us. However, we can make this so much more spiritual than it really is. Where we are binding devils and trying to cast out demons the Holy Spirit just wants us to stop sinning.  Do you have a filthy mouth? Then stop cussing.

Some of us are hanging with the wrong people.  You want to live a right life and you do good for a time but then you get around that certain person and go back to your old ways.  Either you need to cut off that relationship entirely or you need to pray for the filling of the Holy Ghost before you have to be around that person.

The Holy Spirit will wake people up.  He is not playing games. Once when I was a young disciple I was out street preaching with a friend.  I was compelled to preach to a young man with a motorcycle. He just laughed at me and wasn’t receiving what I had to say.  I told him he could drive away right now and get hit by a car and end up in hell if he didn’t turn to Jesus. He sneered and told me I sounded like his mom and I was just trying to scare him.  Right after that conversation he literally got on his bike pulled out into the street and was hit by a car. Running to him I knelt down and urged him to get saved.

I want you to know there is a cry that can only be heard by those in tune with the Holy Spirit.  With all the gadgets and noise it’s hard to hear His voice sometimes. You have to silence the noise and seek the Lord.

We can get so caught up in ministering to each other that we forget that God wants us to use our gifts to minister to the lost.

There is an adventure waiting for those who are led by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes this Christian walk so exciting.  He wants to give divine appointments to those who will listen to Him. He will use anyone who wants to be led by Him. He will use you at your job, the market, the doctor’s office, or anywhere you happen to be in your everyday life.  The greatest miracles God has done through my life has not been in the church but the streets.

The greatest adventure you can have is a life led by the Holy Spirit!

Pray This

Father, I want to be filled with Your Spirit and be led by Him.  I am asking that you cause me to bring glory to Your name in whatever I think, say, or do.  Give me such a hunger to know and walk in the Spirit that nothing else will satisfy me. And give me the power to be a witness.  Everywhere I go help me to hear your voice and reach out to those who don’t know You or have wandered from Your truth.  Amen.

Meditate On This

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Gal 5:25
